FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

GYROPLANE FLIGHT FAQs

Everything you need to know before your flight.

GENERAL

What is a gyroplane, and how is it different from a helicopter or airplane?

A gyroplane (also called a gyrocopter) is a type of aircraft that uses an unpowered rotor for lift and an engine-driven propeller for forward motion. Unlike a helicopter, the rotor isn’t powered by the engine. Unlike an airplane, it doesn’t rely on wings. As the gyroplane moves forward, air flows up through the rotor, causing it to spin and generate lift.

Do I need any flying experience?

Not at all. Every flight includes a certified flight instructor in a dual-control aircraft and is structured as an instructional flight. The instructor handles the flying and walks you through everything, so you can simply relax and enjoy the flight.

Is this a scenic tour?

No. All flights are conducted as lessons with a certified flight instructor. The focus is on learning how a gyroplane flies, with routes chosen to support your goals.

SAFETY

Is it safe?

Gyroplanes provide stable, predictable handling. The unpowered rotor keeps autorotating even if the engine stops, allowing for a controlled landing. All flights use certified instructors in dual-control aircraft following established training procedures.

Can I bring a camera or phone?

For safety reasons, phones, cameras, and other loose items aren’t allowed in the aircraft, because a dropped item can interfere with safe operation. Sunglasses and securely fastened hats are fine. Want footage? Add our $65 Insta360 video of your flight.

YOUR FLIGHT

Will I actually get to fly the aircraft?

Yes. You can fly along with the instructor.

How long is the flight?

We offer 30 or 60 minutes of flight time, depending on the option you choose. Each session includes a pre-flight briefing, your flight with your instructor, and a post-flight debrief. Call to schedule a custom package.

What should I wear or bring?

Dress comfortably for the conditions. For open-cockpit flights, we recommend a long-sleeve shirt or light jacket & sunglasses. We provide a headset and all required safety equipment.

Can I get a video of my flight?

Yes. Add the video upgrade for $65 when you book. We film your flight in 360° with an Insta360 camera and edit it into a video you can share.

FOR PILOTS

Can licensed pilots log flight time?

Yes. Licensed pilots may log gyroplane flight time in accordance with FAA regulations. We offer gyroplane add-on training and Sport Pilot gyroplane certificate training, and flight time can count toward applicable training requirements.
