🚁 More Than a Ride — A Real Flying Experience
You’ll fly with an FAA-certified instructor in a dual-control gyroplane, seated in the rear cockpit. With guidance, you’ll have the chance to handle the controls and experience what it’s like to be a pilot — no prior experience required.
We offer flights in two types of aircraft:
- The AutoGyro MTO Sport (open cockpit)
- The Cavalon (enclosed, more protected from wind)
Every flight is a lesson with a certified instructor. Some people like to stay more hands-on, others prefer to follow along while taking in the views — we adjust to your comfort level.

Gyroplanes are incredibly maneuverable and stable, offering wide-open visibility for stunning aerial views. Depending on your flight path and conditions, you might see:
- Lava fields stretching from mauka to makai
- Reef lines and surf breaks along the coastline

- Humpback whales (in season), dolphins, or manta rays

- 30-Minute Gyro Experience — $249
A perfect intro to gyroplane flying. Includes a pre-flight briefing, headset communication, and dual-control instruction with a certified instructor. You’ll get hands-on time in the air and a full view of Kona’s coastline — no experience needed. - 60-Minute Extended Adventure — $425
This extended lesson gives you more time in the air to refine your control inputs, explore a wider flight path, and take in more of Kona’s stunning terrain — from lava fields and reef lines to potential whale sightings (in season). You’ll fly with a certified instructor under dual controls, learning at your own pace while staying fully engaged throughout the flight.
All flights are private — just you and your instructor. No groups. No crowds.

Do I really get to fly the aircraft?
Yes — all of our gyroplanes have dual controls. You’ll be in the rear seat, and your instructor will coach you through the basics. You’re never flying alone, and you can fly as much or as little as you’re comfortable with.
Is this a flight school?
Fly Gyros Hawaii is a flight school offering a full FAA-approved syllabus. While most guests join us for the experience, every flight is a real lesson — and the time you log can count toward a Sport Pilot certificate if you choose to continue.
Is it safe?
Absolutely. Our aircraft are FAA-certified and maintained to the highest standards. Your instructor is in full control at all times, and we only fly in favorable conditions.
Do I need experience?
None at all. This is designed for beginners.
